New Post – Territorial Ranger

Friends and family,

I plan to retire this site in the spring of 2026. I hope to post links to new blogs as I post them, and invite you to follow if you feel led.

The subject of this new post is an authentic western cowboy. As I researched, Toby Keith’s “Shoulda Been a Cowboy” was playing over and over in my head, while scenes from Owen Wister’s novel “The Virginian” (the greatest Western ever written) the movie “Silverado,” and classic Westerns continually came to mind. It takes place at the tail end of the Indian Wars (tragically chronicled by Dee Brown in “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee”), in the waning years of the silver and gold boom, during the cattle wars, Spanish-American War, and Mexican Revolution. Automobiles, airplanes, and motion pictures were in their infancy. Please let me know what you think.
