My mother Ann was the family genealogist. When she passed away I inherited her papers and, slowly, her interest in family history. As I am retiring this site in the spring, I hope to periodically link to some of the most viewed posts, as well as to some lesser viewed personal favorites.

Ann was a life-long Washingtonian who loved her home town, her family, and the Catholic church. Her burial ceremony was moving, memorable, and briefly told here, in one of a series of posts on ancestral burial sites.
